Tonle Sap Lake at Chong Kneas 2pm Private
Just a stone's throw away from the Angkor Complex lies the expansive Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and the lifeline of Cambodia. During the wet season, the lake swells to an impressive 12,000 square kilometers, but in the dry season, it diminishes to a mere fraction of that size. Annually, millions of fish migrate to spawn in the seasonally flooded forests surrounding the lake, attracting a diverse array of water birds. Additionally, three million people rely on the lake for sustenance and livelihoods. Recognizing its significance, this invaluable ecosystem was designated as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1997. Embark on a brief 15-kilometer drive south of Siem Reap followed by a scenic boat tour of the floating villages and surrounding wildlife. After this captivating lake excursion, return to Siem Reap to enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.
